'Sky Sea Land' by Andy Beez ☽☼☾

Sky Sea Land, originally uploaded by Andy Beez ☽☼☾.

When I first saw this amazing photo I thought it was somewhere really hot and exotic. I especially love all these fantastic blues. However, I was rather surprised when I read the desciption that it wasn't somewhere in the Indian Ocean but St Ives in Cornwall. I've always thought I'd quite like to go to Cornwall on holiday but this confirms it. Anyway, who needs the stress of a long haul flight when you can pop in the car and be somewhere like this in just a few hours!

  1. St Ives is one of my favourite places. Absolutely stunning. I think it's that boat with the triangular red sail that makes it look like India or somewhere. Wish I was there now.

  2. Wow, I would have put that as somewhere VERY far away too. Given the absolutely rotten weather we are having at the moment this is a lovely photo to dream about :) Jen

  4. Thanks for the post PhotoPuddle. I should add that St Ives is also noted for it's sea mist and horizontal rain - so this view isn't always guaranteed.

Actually the light in St. Ives is noted for it's unique 'north light' quality, which is why the town has been a mecca for painters for centuries. It was also the home and studio of world renowned sculpturess Dame Barbara Hepworth, whose work is on display throughout the town. St Ives has also been the base for pottery designers Leech and Troika. A 'quaint little cornish fishing village', St. Ives is worth a visit at any time of the year.

  6. I grew up in Hayle which is just on the right of that photo! My wedding reception was on the top of the hill going into St Ives and that view is in the back of my photos. I must agree with Andy, that the weather can be changeable to say the least, but we just hole up in a nice restaurant and eat lots of yummy seafood. I hope you get to go there one day.
