I would apologise for my absence from my blog this past week but I'm sure you'd probably be more surprised if you'd seen me posting lots. Life with our new arrival is wonderful, if rather tiring. I'd forgotten just what the nights with a newborn were like. It's a good job I'm not the sort of person who needs a full eight hours to function properly.

It's also quite amazing how many jobs I start doing but don't get finished. In fact I've been trying to write a to do list for ages but not got any further than writing 'To Do' at the top of the page. I am therefore hoping I get as far as pressing publish on this post.

I thought I'd share a photo with you today that I just find really pretty. I love the vintage feel, the soft colours the interesting composition. This would look great in a frame on the wall.

Bye for now, I'll post again really soon, promise!

'My beautiful boy' by Me

My beautiful boy by PhotoPuddle
My beautiful boy, a photo by PhotoPuddle on Flickr.

It's been raining all week. All week except for Tuesday that is. On Tuesday the sun was shining brightly. Perhaps it wasn't perhaps I only thought it was, perhaps it was only shining just for me as that was the day my beautiful baby boy was born. Oh how we all love him so much. He's going to fit just perfectly into our lives and we're already loving being a family of four.

'Summer radio' by Me

Summer radio by PhotoPuddle
Summer radio, a photo by PhotoPuddle on Flickr.

I thought I'd share a summery photo with you tonight as it's just rain, rain, rain here at the moment. I guess it is April so we should have expected a few April showers. Just a bit of a shock to the system after March was so gorgeous.

I took this photo last summer. I don't really know what my inspiration was. We just had a radio in the garden and it seemed like a nice idea to hang it in a tree and take a picture. I think the result was a rather relaxing image.

For any of you feeling sleepy after a busy weekend here's a fantastic burst of colour to wake you up again. This photo really does pack a punch don't you think? I think macro pictures of flowers like this are great anyway but the colours in this one are just awesome. The orange is fantastic but what I really love is that thin ring of purple just before you get to middle. Wonderful picture I know I'll be returning to again and again.

'London' by september's bliss

London by september's bliss
London, a photo by september's bliss on Flickr.

What's not to love about this photo? For a start it was taken in London and I love London. And just look at the beautiful blossoms - although I admit I actually thought it was snow when I first saw it. I also adore the burst of red in an otherwise colour-free photo. Telephone boxes like this are such fantastic subjects for photos and it's such a shame you don't see them around much any more.

Anyway, it's getting late so I'll love you and leave you now. Have a wonderful weekend everyone!

'Instagram roses' by Me

Instagram roses by PhotoPuddle
Instagram roses, a photo by PhotoPuddle on Flickr.

It's going to be another Instagram photo from me today I'm afraid simply because I've not been taking a lot else at the moment. I am still finding the whole Instagram concept a fascinating project because I only have it on my iPad and not my mobile phone. That means I am only really able to take pictures around the house. It's making me look really hard at every day things and try to find beauty in things around the house and things we get up to at home.

Here are some beautiful roses my husband brought home for me the other day when I was feeling down. I was feeling rubbish so he surprised me by taking a half day off from work to look after me. And he came home with pretty flowers and Krispy Kreme doughnuts. Seriously, he is the best husband in the world.

'Invasion of the green Chairs' by -p-a-u-l-

I have chosen this photograph to share with you today for a couple of reasons. Firstly, I love the colours and shapes. I think repititive pictures like this are really fascinating and so well observed. And I also love the bright green.

I have also chosen this today as it kind of sums up in one word how things are around here at the moment. Waiting. These chairs look like they are waiting for their audience to arrive and I am just waiting for this baby to turn up. It's so frustrating. I usually like to be all organised and have dates in my diary and things perfectly planned so this just messes with my head. It's funny waking up in the morning and thinking, you never know I could have a baby in my arms by the end of the day! Hurry up baby!

I am a sucker for a pretty notebook. In fact I love notenooks so much I am always saving them "for best". Who know what "best" is meant to be though. I have therefore decided to start using all my notebooks whether they're for something special or not. After all shouldn't everything I choose to write down be fabulous enough to have a pretty cover.

I love this photo. It's so bright, clean and also rather subtle. But most of all I really, really, really love that book on top with all the cameras on it. I want one. And if it was mine I'd write in it every day whether it be best or not - promise.

'Cupcake Papers' by Creature Comforts

This is possibly the most pretty and delicate photo I have ever seen. I don't have a lot of words to say about it but I am really mesmerised even though it's so simple really. I think it's a perfect combination of gorgeous paper cake cases and stunning lighting. I love the way that the cases almost seem to disappear into the background. Really clever work. I would love to see how pretty the finished cakes were!

Hope you're all having a lovely weekend.

'Instagram tulips' by Me

Well I've finally done it - I've entered the world of Instagram thanks to a super awesome birthday present of an iPad. I've been wanting to join in this craze for ages as I love the concept - micro blogging through beautiful photos - and the photo effects are fantastic. As you obviously know by now photography and blogging are my two great hobbies so I'm pleased to be able to get involved with this.

Here is one of my Instagram pictures. I never get bored of playing with the effects and finding new and interesting things to take pictures of in my everyday life. I'll no doubt post some more of my photos here in due course.

Well what a difference a day makes. Over the past few days I've been feeling so emotionally and physically drained. Everything's been achy and I've just been feeling really down. Today, however, was a good day! The sun has been shining (a bit anyway), my daughter and I had a lovely day with friends and generally I'm not hurting as much. Fingers crossed tomorrow will be a good day too. It seems like such a cop out to blame hormones but seriously these extra little buggers floating around (or whatever hormones do) don't help make pregnancy a smooth ride.

I love this particular picture because it's been captured at exactly the right moment. It's great how the photographer has managed to get this shot just as the curtain is blown away to reveal that stunning wooden door. I think all the vibrant colours are fantastic as well. It can't have been the most beautiful of days weatherwise if the wind was blowing this strongly but that doesn't stop this being a fantastic photo. I have to remember to think like this photo if I'm having a hormonal moment. There are often blustery grey days but behind that life is still beautiful and the sun will come out again tomorrow.

I must admit I've not felt much like blogging these past few days. I've kind of drafted a few posts that try to explain how I'm feeling about things but they just don't sound right. Perhaps later this week I will use my blog to offload a bit but for today let's just make it all about the photos! Here is a fantastic photo of something I've been craving and indeed scoffing a lot of recently. Mint Aero chocolate. Oh it is so good and to be honest this photo isn't helping matters. It just makes me want more. I've had half a big bar of it already today. So to the photographer I say... Brilliant work, just a little too brilliant. I might have to actually go look at something else or I'll end up feasting on the rest of my Aero bar which appears to be sitting winking at me.

'Don't eat to many chocolate eggs' by Nina Matthews Photography

Happy Easter everyone!! I hope you've had a lovely day and are in the middle of a great long weekend. We had a really nice day at a friend's house today. The weather held out - it looked like it was going to rain - so we had a great big barbecue and an Easter Egg hunt in the garden for all the children they had round.

This is a simple but really artistic Easter image. I love all the bright and fresh colours. Just perfect to share with you today.

'Magnolia' by Me

Magnolia, a photo by PhotoPuddle on Flickr.

I love magnolia trees. They're just so pretty and also I feel nostalgic looking at them as we had one in the garden when I was a child. There's a gorgeous magnolia just round the corner from my house which I would love to photograph. I feel a bit funny about it though as it's obviously in someone's front garden and I'm not sure if the owners would appreciate me pointing my camera at their tree. Luckily though at Nymans the other day I spotted a magnolia tree in the grounds that was equally beautiful and I got to take loads of pictures. I think this one is my favourite. It shows off the pretty pink flowers and the bright blue sky whilst still being quite soft and subtle. I can always look at this on cold winter days and think of spring.

Well it's Good Friday today so to those of you having an extra long weekend, I hope you have a lovely relaxing time. The sun is shining here at the moment and there are chocolate eggs in the kitchen all ready for Sunday. Already that promises to be a good recipe for a nice few days.

Here are some cute little Easter bunnies for you to have a look at. Isn't this picture adorable? You can almost feel how soft these animals are just by looking a this image. I want a cuddle. I really have no desire to ever have a pet but if I did these cute little things could swing it for me. I rather like rabbits!

Happy Easter weekend everyone!

'Hong Kong Skyline' by Sprengben

Seriously how amazing is this photo of Hong Kong? It's hard to find words to describe it other than simply "Wow"! You know I see when I look at it though? I see something along the lines of a whole host of skyscapers emerging from the depths of a volcano. Do you get what I'm on about? Those light really look like molten lava - well to me anyway. I'll be quiet now and let you enjoy this fantastic photo.

'Hats in a wheelbarrow' by Me

Hats in a wheelbarrow, a photo by PhotoPuddle on Flickr.

I had such a lovely time yesterday. As I mentioned before my husband decided to take the day off so we headed over to a National Trust place called Nymans in West Sussex for a spot of lunch and an afternoon stroll. I took lots of pictures including ones of us playing on the grass, the beautiful big house there, the flowers, blossoms and a stunning magnolia tree. I also took a few shots of some hats in a wheelbarrow - as you do! I love this as it's just so random but looks just so pretty in the spring sunshine.

'Beach Huts (Again!)' by ChrisDale

Beach Huts (Again!) by ChrisDale
Beach Huts (Again!), a photo by ChrisDale on Flickr.

I can't believe it's April already. This year seems to be going so quickly. So far the month has started well. We got loads ticked off that 'To Do' list I was telling you about (and added some more jobs along the way). And today my husband took a spontaneous day off work which was fantastic as we got to have a lovely family day in the sun! I've been expecting bad weather all weekend so when yesterday and today were still sunny and nice they felt like bonus days!

Anyway, as is often the case at the moment, here is a photo which has nothing to do with what I've just been telling you about. I just wanted to share this as I think it's brilliant. Love the moodiness of it with the grey skies and the rather shabby looking beach huts. I am sure they look much more exciting on a sunny day but here they do look rather unloved and weatherbeaten. I also love how different they all are and how a couple of them look like sheds! I've realised they also look a bit out of place on grass rather on the actual beach. This just proves that I love beach huts and photos of them whatever state they're in and whatever the weather is like!
