'New hat' by Me

New hat by PhotoPuddle
New hat, a photo by PhotoPuddle on Flickr.

Well if the weather reports are anything to be believed then the weather's on the turn as of tomorrow. Apparently it's going to get cool and cloudy again. I don't think we can really complain though as it's been absoultely beautiful here lately. So sunny and warm without the heat and humidity of a boiling hot summer day. It's been so nice to go out in March wearing sunglasses and no coat.

Here is a photo I took the other day of my daughter in her new Hello Kitty sun hat which I am sure is going to feature in quite a few photos over the summer. She did rather well in the wardrobe department over these past couple of weeks actually. As well as this hat she also got sundresses, t-shirts, a pair of shorts, sandals and flip flops! Lucky girl. She's all set for summer now so I hope it gets nice again soon!

I hope you all have a lovely weekend! We haven't got a lot planned which is great as this evening hubby and I wrote a huge to do list of jobs that we've decided need doing round the house. I blame the pregnancy "nesting" phase. I wonder how much we'll actually get done! I'll let you know!

It's funny what you can consider beautiful. I wouldn't have thought washing hanging up to dry outside a graffiti covered building would be the prettiest of subjects for a photo but I think this is gorgeous. The pastel colours are lovely and the light is stunning. Why doesn't my laundry ever look this pretty?

'Leather and Feather' by L.Moffett

Leather and Feather by L.Moffett
Leather and Feather, a photo by L.Moffett on Flickr.

I've got about a month to go until my baby is due. At this point in my first pregnancy I went on maternity leave from my job. To be honest just walking any distance was so difficult by that stage I think it would have been impossible to carry on much longer. I therefore spent my last few weeks of pregnancy sitting on the sofa watching TV and eating. Anyway, now my job is stay-at-home mum I'm wondering what the deal is with my maternity leave this time. How should I approach my daughter and tell her that she'll have to be making her own meals from now on and that'll she'll have to be making her own way to pre-school? Hee hee, good job I'm joking, I don't think that would go down too well! Actually, if I'm being honest I think the fact that I've had to spend this pregnancy running around after her has kept me much more mobile and in general I've suffered less with everything. The morning sickness even stopped at 30 weeks which after last time was so fabulous.

And here is a photo which has nothing to do with pregnancy and babies or even to do with the weather. I just wanted to show it to you because it's rather delicate and beautiful. I love peacock feathers and don't think I've seen a photo of one quite like this. Look at how all the little details are perfectly captured. Lovely work.

'It's March!' by Me

It's March! by PhotoPuddle
It's March!, a photo by PhotoPuddle on Flickr.

Yep, it's March so obviously here are a few of the essentials we needed today - sun cream, new sun hat and new flip flops! We could have gone out and about to enjoy the sunshine but decided it would be just as nice to hang out at home and chill in the garden. And take some photos of course. Now I'm just waiting for the blossom to appear on our trees as it hasn't yet but you can see it's just about to. Hurry up, I need to take blossom pictures! This will have to do for now though. I love that this looks so summery and could just as easily been taken in July. Such beautiful sunshine today.

'It's snowing' by Lorena Gazzotti

It's snowing by Lorena Gazzotti
It's snowing, a photo by Lorena Gazzotti on Flickr.

Well the clocks in the UK went forward by an hour this weekend but to be honest looking at the weather it's more like the calendar went forward. Seriously, it's more like May at the moment than March. Every time I dare to check the weather forecast it doesn't disappointment me either - looks like the coming week is meant to be just as wonderful.

To celebrate the continuing sunny weather I thought I'd post a highly inappropriate photo of some snow! I love this. It looks so cold but at the same time quite cozy. I also love how this scene is still a work in progress. It's still snowing. I wonder how much deeper it got that day. The snowflakes and the atmosphere have been captured so well.

I will stop talking about the weather soon I promise. It's just this kind of warmth and sunshine is quite a novelty in March so it's hard not to blog about it!

I love this simple and beautiful photo. The composition is really interesting and the use of all the empty space is great. I also love the soft tones. And most importantly it's called "happy friday" so I just had to show it to you today. I hope you all have a lovely weekend. The weather here is meant to stay beautiful and warm. It's been such a mood lifter this week so here's hoping it sticks around for a while.

Happy weekend everyone!

'Spring snail' by Me

Spring snail by PhotoPuddle
Spring snail, a photo by PhotoPuddle on Flickr.

Today was an absolutely beautiful spring day. I have two vases of flowers in my house at the moment so the lovely sunlight meant I just had to take some photos of them. My daughter and I also got up to all sorts today where photos were taken including a trip to the park, painting, eating ice cream and playing in the garden. I also had a good photo day with my polaroid camera and took lots of pictures with that too. But when sorting through the images tonight I found that this is actually my favourite shot! We had lots of fun watching this snail make it's way across the patio. I've never really studied a snail up close before. It's quite fascinating! Hope you had a lovely day today too.

Even though in my mind it's been spring for a couple of weeks now, today is officially the first day of spring! Therefore it seems only right that tonight I post a photo of some beautiful spring blossoms. Whilst hunting for that perfect blossom photo I came across this and knew I had to share it with you. What a beautiful building. Wouldn't you just feel happy every time you walked past this? It's a great photo too. Looks like it was taken on a rather gorgeous day. Love all the blues.

Happy spring to you all!

I love this image as it really sums up why I always get my photos printed and put in albums. I have so many albums full of photos of family, friends, days out and time spent at home. I've always found keeping albums important. Even before I had my own camera I would put together collections of the reject photos that my parents and grandparents took and gave to me. I'm always having a look at the many pictures on my computer but nothing beats settling down on the sofa and flicking through an old album full of memories. I really need to find somewhere to keep my growing photo album collection now though as I appear to be running out of space. Seriously, if I carry on at this rate I'm going to need a much bigger house!

I wonder what memories are held in the album in this lovely photo. Looks like some interesting shots from the past.

'Father and daughter on the beach' by Me

It's Mother's Day here in the UK today. I have had a lovely day being spoiled by my little girl and my husband. I really am a very lucky lady. And being a mother really is the best thing I could have ever done. I love my daughter so very much it's scary. Just can't wait to meet my new baby now and continue the journey as a mum of two.

Here is a [photo I which I think is appropriate for today - my husband and daughter playing on the beach together. I really like this picture. They really look like they're doing some serious pebble throwing!

Happy Mother's Day to all you beautiful mothers out there. Hope you've had a great day too.

I have two cute stories that I really wanted to share with you today. They are all about my daughter and getting ready for the new baby.

We're just about to paint the spare room and complete it's transformation into a nursery. Previously, we've used the the walls as a space to stick up some of the little one's artwork so her and I decided the other day to start taking it all down and removing the blue-tak ready to paint. Whilst doing this my daughter asked why we were taking her pictures down. I told her it was so we could get the room ready. She then asked me "Won't the baby like my pictures then?" Aw.... that made me really sad.

And secondly was another dispointment. My husband has taken a few days off work to get decorating and other bits and bobs done. He said to her at bed time a couple of nights ago. "Hey guess what's happening on Friday!". She said very excitedly "Is the baby coming?". Um, no... Daddy's just got a day off work. Whilst she was happy about that, can't say she carried on being quite as excited.

Anyway, enough rambling from me. Just wanted to share those random bits of conversation. And talking of random, how random is this photo? I'm not entirely sure what's going on here but I think it's fantastic. Love the thought of lots of bright coloured balloons hanging up and cheering up what looks like an otherwise dull day.

Happy weekend everyone!

It's great having a little girl who loves shoes and shoe shopping as much as I do! Today whilst in M&S my daughter spotted a pair of pink sparkly shoes both she and I fell in love with. This prompted me to take her to get a her feet measured to ensure we bought the right size. By the end of the afternoon she was a shoe size bigger and the proud own of two new pairs of shoes. It was a lovely girly shopping trip.

I'm posting this picture as I bet it'll make loads of you say "awwww". What a cute little kitten and the expression that's been captured is brilliant. I am also very excited by the shoes. Not seen that colour combination before. They're definitely getting added to my Converse wish list. Oh and one last thing - matching nail polish - like that lots too!

As I mentioned in yesterday's blog post I took some pictures of daffodils which I was looking forward to sorting through. I ended up being rather pleased with them and this one is my favourite. In fact looking at it now I realise that I like it even more than I did last night. Daffodils really are the most perfect spring flower aren't they? So bright and happy - truely a sunshine flower.

'Saturday Evening' by Laura Travels

Saturday Evening, a photo by Laura Travels on Flickr.

I seriously need to chill out. Over the past few days I have found myself getting more and more stressed out by things. I think I as I get closer to my due date I'm just finding all sorts of things to worry about. It doesn't help when you have hormones flying around all over the place that stop you dealing with things as well as you might do normally.

Anyway, I think you can guess why I've chosen this beautiful photo to share with you tonight. I think I could quite easily relax a little bit here. What an absolutely gorgeous sunset. The light is wonderful. I love the colour of the sky and how it makes the sand look rather blue.

And to be totally random... I've just remembered I took photos of some lovely daffodils today. Perhaps sorting through some of them would be rather relaxing!

There is no reason behind posting this photo tonight other than I just saw it and it made me smile. I love photos with these kind of colours and tones. I also love beaches and I must say I rather like ice cream too. (I scoffed a yummy Mars Bar ice cream today in about three bites but that's another story). Oh to be on a beach eating Ben and Jerry's right now. Sigh....

Hope you all had a lovely weekend.

'Bump' by Me

Bump by PhotoPuddle
Bump, a photo by PhotoPuddle on Flickr.

I never feature pictures of myself on here (apart from a couple of photos of my feet I believe) but after thinking hard about it I decided that perhaps I should share a picture of my pregnant belly, after all it's such a big part of my life right now. Motherhood also has such a huge influence on my blog and on my photography so it feels right to share this side of it as well as numerous photos of the back of my daughter's head! Little bit nervous about it but here it is - here is me and my 33 week pregnant belly. The more I look at it the more I think it's actually a rather cute little bump. I just can't believe it's making me feel so heavy and achy. Oh well, not long to go now!

Oh I am so jealous of the people in this photo. I wish I had a place like this to go when I want to just sit, be peaceful and contemplate life. I love places with breathtaking views like this. Having something like this nearby would be fantastic. There are lots of places round here that are gorgeous of course but somewhere with a view from up high like this would be wondeful. Failing that I'd love to have a special place of my own that I always feel is calm and pretty. You know like in films where someone gets upset and goes missing and there's always someone who knows just where they'll be. Anyway, I think this photo is beautiful. The tranquility and gorgeous sunset has been captured perfectly.

Another weather related post tonight I'm afraid as it rained a lot today. Seems like we're experiencing spring weather again just this time it's the wet kind. I wish I could say it was as breathtaking as this but it was just cold and miserable. I think this photo is stunning though. I love the lighting and the rain has been captured perfectly. I wonder how long the photographer stayed in here before going out to face the rain.

I am posting this picture tonight simply because this is how cold it felt today. Seriously, what happened to the spring weather we had last week? It was the icy wind that was particularly horrible. Brrr, I'm getting cold just thinking about it.

I think this picture looks really bleak and cold but in a in really artistic not depressing way. It makes you wonder what's going on in it. Did the woman make the snowman? Is she walking away leaving it unfinished? Or is the face on the other side? All in all a fascinating and very atmospheric photo.

'You can never have too many' by Me

My Converse habit seems to have got rather out of hand as I now own five pairs. They are rather cool though and I do wear them all. I think because I'm pregnant and missed out on wearing all the fabulous sparkly skyscraper heels that were about this Christmas I am filling the void another way. At least Converse are practical and do get worn practically every day.

Converse shoes also make a great subject for photos. I've seen so many lovely photos by other people and I love taking pictures of mine too. This one shows my whole collection. It was fun trying to find different ways to arrange them. Oh and in case you were wondering, I think I've got my sights on a navy blue pair next!

I thought this would be a perfect photo to share with you tonight considering how many sweet treats we've had in our house over the past couple of days. My daughter and I had friends over to our house on Friday so I got some gingerbread men and dinky doughnuts in as a treat. Thing is other people then turned up with cakes too so we also ended up with two swiss rolls and a fresh cream victoria sponge! Yum! And the sugar rush didn't end there. We had friends come and help us with some stuff at home today and to say thanks we got them a 12 pack of Krispy Kreme doughnuts which are definitely the best kind!

Anyway, if all that talk of cake hasn't made you hungry just check out this yummy photo. I bet this doughnut didn't last for long after this picture was taken. My favourite thing about this though has to be the light as it's so bright and beautiful and so well captured.

Hope you're all having a lovely weekend.

'Droopy' by Me

Droopy by PhotoPuddle
Droopy, a photo by PhotoPuddle on Flickr.

Well it's the first day of March and as far as I'm concerned that means it's spring time now! And the weather backed me up on this one as it was such a beautiful day. I just wish I wasn't feeling so achy at the moment as it would have been a perfect day for a lovely long walk in the sunshine.

I did make good use of the weather though by using the lovely light to take some pictures of the tulips my husband bought me the other day. I love how they go all droopy when they get a bit old so I thought I'd try and get a really beautiful droopy tulip picture. I'm really pleased with the results.

Happy spring everyone!
