'Herne Bay beach huts' by Me

Herne Bay beach huts, originally uploaded by PhotoPuddle.

We visited Herne Bay in Kent this weekend and I must admit I was rather excited about doing a bit of beach hut and general beach photography. I left my husband and daughter playing on the pebbles and wandered off down the beach to see the beach huts. If you look really carefully you can see them in this photo.

I was a bit frustrated that the weather wasn't so good - especially as the sun only went and came out shortly after we left - but I think I got some shots that were OK. I'm showing you this one as it shows you some of the beach huts I got stupidly excited about. I also love the fact that if you take a camera to the beach in winter you can take lots of lovely photos without trying to avoid anyone playing frisbee or sunbathing. Although saying that there was actually someone else loitering by the beach huts with a camera when I got there!

Anyway, hope you like this photo. I'll show you another one later in the week.

'Winding road' by So Graphic

Winding road, originally uploaded by So Graphic.

It's Friday! I love that Friday feeling. I love being a stay-at-home mum and I love what I get up to during the week but it still feels so nice when it's Friday. I guess because it means two whole days of family time. My husband, daughter and I always make sure we do something fun together at the weekend. Also weekends often mean catching up with friends we don't see very often or who don't live near by.

And so to the photo which has nothing to do with weekends. It's just been flipping freezing here today so I thought I'd show you this lovely snowy picture. I think the shape of the road is very well observed. The photograph obviously had a lot of road to choose from when taking this shot but they got it just right. And I really love the vintage texture that has been used.

Happy weekend everyone!

'Paint brushes' by Me

Paint brushes, originally uploaded by PhotoPuddle.

I have been severely neglecting my photography this month. I know we've been ill, the weather's been bad and we've not been anywhere exciting but those aren't good enough excuses really. I could be finding beauty in the things around me. Therefore yesterday I did just that and snapped away at a few mundane things at home. Here is one of the pictures I took of my daughter's paint brushes. I like it because even though it was a dull day the light seems to be just right. I also like the angle and the detail.

Hopefully this weekend I'll be able to photograph some beach huts. It probably doesn't sound terribly interesting to you but I'm finding it hard not to squeal with excitement!!

'As Time Goes By' by Ronaldo F Cabuhat

As Time Goes By, originally uploaded by Ronaldo F Cabuhat.

I don't think I've featured any wedding photography on my blog yet but I saw this and thought it was fantastic. The dress is quite obviously gorgeous even though you can't see all of it here. I love how the photographer has captured all the lovely details. The hand holding in the corner is perfectly placed too. My favourite bit has to be the flowers though. What a gorgeous colour against the bright white and they really are so simple and elegant. I'd love to have a look at the rest of this wedding album, wouldn't you?

'Tunnels Beach - Kauai, Hawaii' by Kaldoon

Tunnels Beach - Kauai, Hawaii, originally uploaded by Kaldoon.

I said yesterday that I was going to show you a photo of somewhere else I'd really love to visit and that place is Hawaii. I really, really want to go there. I honestly can't tell you what it is about the place that makes me want to go there so much but whenever I see it on television on in a film I just think it looks fantastic.

And then of course there are awesome photos like this. Just how beautiful is this beach? I love how crisp and sharp this picture is. You can pretty much see the grains of sand on the beach. I also love how the sunset sparkles on the sea.

We definitely do plan to go one day. In fact I think it would be great to combine it with a trip to Las Vegas! And I'll definitely be sharing a lot of my photos with you here - I expect I'll still be blogging for many years to come!

'Girls Night Out in Vegas' by TJ Scott

Girls Night Out in Vegas, originally uploaded by TJ Scott.

Hello to you all. Hope you had a fantastic weekend - I know I did. I had a fab night out with the girls last night. A very nice meal then off to dance the night away! I do love a good boogie.

I thought this fantastic photo was a great one to represent our night out. Although to be fair I don't think we looked exactly like that. For a start it was flippin' freezing so we all had our big winter coats on outside! I also love it because it was taken in Las Vegas which is a place I'd love to visit. I'm not particuarly interested in gambling or the big shows or anything else that the place is famous for I am just curious to see a place that is so unreal. Have any of your been? What was it like?

And stay tuned folks because tomorrow I'm going to share with you another awesome photo of a place I'd really like to visit.

'Joy and Jubilee' by Great Danes

Joy and Jubilee, originally uploaded by Great Danes.

As I type this it's so very nearly the weekend. I hope you've got lots of lovely things planned. In fact I hope your weekend is as happy and carefree as this photo is. Doesn't it just make you smile? Those daffodils are gorgeous and would have made a good picture on their own but the addition of the person twirling around is fabulous. And it goes without saying that red was definitely the best colour for the woman's top. A splash of red can really make a photo extra striking.

'Friends' by Me

Friends, originally uploaded by PhotoPuddle.

I'm going to show you another one of my own photos tonight as I had such a lovely time with my daughter today and wanted to post one of her. I know every day you spend with your child is amazing but some days you just have an extra special time. I don't know what it was about this average Wednesday but she just made my heart swell with happiness and pride. She really is my little best friend. I love that we chat about all sorts of random things and I really, really love it when she tells me she loves me.

I could ramble on about how fantastic my little girl is for ages but I should probably get back to the photo. This is another one dug up from the archives. It was taken at the end of last summer when we were out walking in the local countryside with some friends. It was one of those perfect summer days. This is my daughter (in the purple hooded top) and one of her best friends. You wouldn't think a two year old could have best friends but according to her she does. Although she calls more than one of her friends her best friend so I guess she's keeping her options open.

'I love you, I love you, I love you' by lucia and mapp

Isn't this just pretty, pretty, pretty? In fact all the photos I have seen by this photographer are just so gorgeous I found it hard to decide which one to use here. I chose this one as it I love how all these elements work so well together. And I really like the "I love you"s that are typed out and sitting on the typewriter. I wish I had lots of beautiful things like this to photograph as I think pictures with vintage objects etc are just so charming and pretty. Time to get shopping I think!

'In the sand' by Me

In the sand, originally uploaded by PhotoPuddle.

I love looking back through my files of photos to see what I took but never did anything with. This was taken on a trip to West Wittering last summer. I have featured photos from that particular day on this blog already here and here and here but I was obviously so over excited about the beautiful beach huts that I never gave the other photos I took a second glance.

So here is a photo I took while burying my feet in the sand. I love it because I can just feel the warm sand between my toes and it makes me really excited about spring and summer being on their way (soon please). I'm also rather pleased with my choice of nail varnish that day. I love to use summer as an excuse to make my feet all bright and happy!

'Umbrella in Water' by Denis Hawkins

Umbrella in Water, originally uploaded by Denis Hawkins.

Whilst looking for photos to post I kept going back to this one so I thought I'd share with you tonight and see what you thought of it. I think it is so intriguing. It really feels like there should be some story behind it. If so what is that story? And if not what inspired the photographer to set up a shot like this? Also as I have mentioned before I love little cocktail umbrellas so it's really interesting to see one used in such a different way. So, do tell. What do you think?

'{13.365} Perspective' by girlishmusings

{13.365} Perspective, originally uploaded by girlishmusings.

What a great idea - take your camera to the library and photograph lots of books. This photographer has done just that and I love the results. This one is fabulous. I love the different perspective as it's means you can see all the different types of pages and how they are all well read. I love books and I love photography so perhaps this is what I might do on my next trip to the library.

'Little beach hut' by Me

Little beach hut, originally uploaded by PhotoPuddle.

In the absence of any lovely sunshine or indeed trips to the beach I decided to take a photo of my wooden beach hut trinket box to keep the beach hut dreams alive! If I can't have a real life beach hut of my own then this will have to do! This summer I intend to convince my husband we need to visit Southwold as the beach huts there look fantastic. I've also recently seen a photo of some in Southsea which I wouldn't mind taking a photo of. And of course we should go back to West Wittering. The beach there is wonderful and sandy and of course there may just be a few beach huts there as well. Looks like I've got a busy summer ahead - if it would just hurry up now!

'just that way' by dan [durango99]

just that way, originally uploaded by dan [durango99].

OK, so please ignore the post I wrote yesterday - althought don't ignore the picture because that was pretty. Just forget that I said I wanted it to snow again because I've changed my mind. I want it to be spring. I want it to start getting warm again. I want to go out and take photos of flowers. I want to play in the park with my little girl. I want to go out and about at the weekends to all sorts of beaches and gardens. I want to have a few sneaky spring picnics. I'd also like to be able to leave the house without it taking ages to put on our hats, scarves, gloves, coats, boots etc.

I think this is a beautiful spring picture. The flowers are just so delicate and the colours are pastel but bright which I love. I like to think that the photographer was just lying in the grass one day and spotted this fantastic view so just had to snap away. Often the best photo are taken just by chance.

'Frosty Robin (Explored)' by glendel1

Frosty Robin (Explored), originally uploaded by glendel1.

There is a little part of me that wishes it would snow again here. The last time it snowed it just did the best job of messing up Christmas plans so I kind of think it would be nice to have a bit of snow to just have fun in. Don't want to be worrying about what plans will have to be cancelled. But I fear I may just be wearing rose tinted glasses here. I am sure I'd be sick of it within 24 hours if it did fall again!

Another reason for wanting more snow would be to see some robins and hopefully be able to take a photo a bit like this. I love robins and think they look so striking in the white like this. This is such a lovely wintery photo. The detail of the frost on the branches is great and the lighting is perfect too. It looks very cold! Even the bird himself looks a bit chilly - it looks like he's wondering where he left his scarf.

'Sunflower HDR' by Sheephead_

Sunflower HDR, originally uploaded by Sheephead_.

I hope your week has started well. If not let's start it off again with a huge burst of colour! I always love photos of sunflowers because I love the bright cheerful colours so imagine how happy I was when I saw this one. It's just all about the colour. That bright pink, yellow and green just jump right off the screen at you don't they? An instant mood lifter if ever I saw one.

'Indiana Monarch' by ianhanson

Indiana Monarch, originally uploaded by ianhanson.

Evening all, I hope you've all had a lovely weekend. This weekend wasn't as great as I'd hoped as we are still suffering from the lurgy in this house. I'm on the mend but hubby's not well now. Really hoping little one doesn't get sick now too although I have a feeling she may have started this off ages ago with a cold she had at Christmas.

Anyway, on to tonight's photo. I love butterfly pictures and I think this is so subtle and gorgeous. It's almost like a watercolour painting. The green, purple and orange are lovely together. And I really like the composition too. I like the fact that there are a few pieces of grass in the foreground. It makes it look like we are hiding behind them secretly watching the butterfly go about it's business. Beautiful work.

'Some of my own photos featured on my blog' by Me

Today I have put together a collection of my own photos that I have featured on here. I think they look really nice put together like this. l really like the colours. Anyway, the reason? Well, it's my blog birthday today! I can't believe I've been blogging for a whole year. I really have loved every moment of it. It's been great to find an outlet for my love of photography. I love taking photos and I love looking at the photography of others so this is an ideal way of showcasing both.

I also love all the other blogs I have discovered. There are some seriously talented, funny and creative people out there.

I also have to say a huge thank you to all my readers and followers. Whenever I read a comment from you it seriously makes my day. I really do try to pick the very best of photos to show you so it means a lot when you agree with my choices. And it means even more when you say something nice about my own work.

I am therefore very much looking forward to the next year of blogging. I hope you will continue on the journey with me.

untitled image by francesca way

, originally uploaded by francesca way.

I wasn't going to post today but then I came across this fabulous image that sums up just how I've been feeling all day! I just want to bury my head in the sofa and feel sorry for myself. Unfortunately that not so easy when you have a two year old to look after but I must say she's been a star today and done a great job of looking after me.

Sorry to bore you with another 'Oh woe is me' post but hey, if you can't have a bit of a moan on your own blog then were can you? Cough, cough, splutter, splutter.....

'Watermelon Bite' by guatemum

Watermelon Bite, originally uploaded by guatemum.

I'm not feeling well today. I have found myself with a rubbish cold so am currently sitting in bed with the laptop reading blogs and trying to find something to watch on TV. Also because I am also so dedicated to my own blog I thought I would post a quick photo here too. I was planning on a nice picture of some grapes to signify my poorly state but then I remembered this great watermelon shot that I've been wanting to show you for a while. I like it because it looks refreshing just like a watermelon should be. I also like the imagination that went into composing this shot. The abstract layout of the fruit is just great.

Hope to post again tomorrow but without sneezing and coughing all over my computer screen!

'Verano en Hendaya' by SANTI BAÑON

Verano en Hendaya, originally uploaded by SANTI BAÑON.

I love this photo. I think it is a real work of art and can imagine it hanging on someone's wall. It's the bright red against the grey scenery that does it for me. A bit of red in an otherwise colour free photo is always so striking. And I think beaches in bad weather are fascinating. There is something a little romantic about wrapping up really warm and wandering across the deserted sand. The sea is often rough and powerful too which makes you realise the true power of the ocean. Of course saying that I do rather love a beach in the sunshine too! In fact I'm not a huge fan of being cold so please hurry up summer!

'New shoes' by Me

New shoes, originally uploaded by PhotoPuddle.

I mentioned in a post last week that I'd got a new camera for Christmas that I was waiting to try out and yesterday I got the chance to take a few fun shots with it. Here is one of the pictures I took. These are my new purple Converse shoes which I also got for Christmas. The reflection was achieved by putting them on a shiny box that some perfume came in. I think I was actually rather spoiled this Christmas! So, what do you think? Nice camera? I hope I'm able to get some great photos with it.

'Perth Boat House 2' by nudibranches

Perth Boat House 2, originally uploaded by nudibranches.

Thought I'd start the year with an image that was very tranquil and serene. This one really is just that. The water is just so still and the reflection is just so clear. And as I do with all photos like this I turned it upside down to see just how perfect a reflection it was. The blues are great too. The sky really matches the boat house. This is definitely one which could be framed to go on the wall of someone's house.
