'Sunset Blossoms 1' by Lori Lyra

Sunset Blossoms 1 by Lori Lyra

Tomorrow is March. I can't believe how quickly February has flown by. In fact even though I knew what date it was it kind of took me by surprise when I realised it was the last day of the month today.

Anyway, as it's March tomorrow that means it's spring in my eyes. I fully expect to wake up to trees full of blossom but just in case I don't I thought I'd better find a beautiful blossom photo to keep me going until spring really arrives. This photo is the one for me. It looks so relaxing there. What a beautiful sunset perfectly captured.

'Just us at the bowling alley' by Me

This afternoon I took my daughter out. We went bowling, shoe shopping and finished off with a trip to McDonalds for a burger and play in the big soft play area they have there. Doesn't sound like anything out of the usual you might think but the difference was it was just me and her. It was a proper mummy and daughter date which we don't do nearly enough. We both had a fantastic time and we'll definitely be doing it again soon. My son stayed at home with his daddy for some proper male bonding time but the minute I stepped through the door he held his arms out for me. It made me so happy to know I was missed. I love my little family.

I couldn't resist getting my camera out at the bowling alley, including taking a photo of the final scoreboard which clearly shows I was beaten by a four year old. I rather like this shot of the lanes though. We were the only people there and in black and white I think this makes for a rather arty picture.

'Somewhere Over Greenland' by tobysx70

Somewhere Over Greenland, a photo by tobysx70 on Flickr.

I've just been chatting with a friend on Twitter about polaroid photography and how I'm disappointed with how mine shots are turning out. I've now realise that I need to take my camera and go somewhere cool and different. I'm getting a bit bored of taking pictures around the house and in the park. I'm also rather inspired by this polaroid which was apparently taken up in the air somewhere over Greenland. Now that's something to aim for that's a bit more exciting than vase of flowers in my house! I love this shot, it looks so peaceful up there.

Right, time to get ordering more film!

'Croissants 2' by macapav

Well the weekend hasn't started well. Today has been really crappy. Nothing serious just a grizzly baby, cancelled plans with friends, car sickness and a broken plate but I'm just so exhausted at the moment that I think I'm being a bit too emotional about everything. I feel like going to bed and sleeping for a week although to be honest I don't think that would help much. Fingers crossed we can find a brilliant way to spend our Sunday which will chill me out a little.

Anyway, to thank you for listening to my moaning here's gorgeous photo to look at. All the yummy food is great and it's a lovely crisp, colourful and well taken photo but my favourite thing about it has to be the matching plate and napkins.

Hope you're in the middle of a fabulous weekend!

'One from the archives' by Me

I thought I'd show you this photo as it's one I took of my daughter when she was about the same age as my son is now. She's on her knees here but in fact she was just learning to walk. She first walked when she was ten months old and I've always been such a proud mummy about that. Trouble is my son is almost ten months old and whilst he's an expert crawler and very strong on his feet he's not walking and I doubt he will soon. I must admit I am finding it rather hard not to compare my two children. I know this is wrong and ridiculous, especially as one's a boy and one's a girl, but my four year old has set the bar really high - for example have I told you how great at reading she is? I need to remember that they are complete individuals and will have different strengths and weaknesses throughout their childhood and beyond. And you know what, whatever they do I know I will always be so incredibly proud of them both.

This photograph is a great reminder that there are beautiful photo opportunities all over the place, you just have to look for them. This is a gorgeous shot and very well spotted. I love the green and I especially love how the colours of the door match the colours of the plant beside it. A would describe this as a vibrant yet subtle image.

'Spring is on the way' by Me

Spring is on the way. It really is, I can feel it. It had it's chilly moments but today was a beautiful day. The gorgeous sunshine made it a perfect day for getting some painting done at home so while hubby did that I took the kids off to the park and they had a great time. My daughter was chuffed because she found daisies to pick and these little flowers we spotted really made me smile. My daughter was sad when I said she couldn't pick them though. Here's hoping for lots more lovely days like this, especially over half term week!

You may have noticed I've not been doing my usual 'Happy Weekend' style post on a Friday recently. Well the reason for this is mainly that my husband and I have been going a bit old school of a Friday night and turning off the computer and settling down for an evening in front of the telly - usually with a yummy takeaway of some description! The reason I call this 'old school' is because that's how we used to spend a quiet evening in before blogging, Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest etc and in his case Xbox seemed to take over our lives. And you know what it's been lovely. I think everyone needs to find some time to just chill and do nothing much!

And the photo? Nothing to do with weekends or chilling out, I just really liked it. I don't know why. Perhaps it's because it kind of feels like the people in it have a bit of a spring in their step. Plus, I really want to know what's in the bag!

Hope your weekend is going fabulously for you!

'Happy Valentine's Day' by Me

Happy Valentine's Day by PhotoPuddle
Happy Valentine's Day, a photo by PhotoPuddle on Flickr.

Happy Valentine's Day! Hope you are having a lovely day surrounded by the people and things you love. I know it's terribly unfashionable to celebrate Valentine's Day when you've been with someone as long as my hubby and I have been together but we don't mind a bit of enforced romance. One year we decided we wouldn't bother doing anything and both hated it. We ended up celebrating the next day instead. Saying that we don't have much planned for tonight, just a takeaway of some description, wine and a DVD.

And here is an Instagram snap of one of the roses from the bunch I found waiting for me downstairs this morning.

I've not featured a Converse picture on here for a while, and you know how I like my Converse, so I thought I'd share this one. It's great because even though these shoes are generally rather colourful this is a black and white image. It still works really well, in fact in seems to enhance the little details in the material and all the damage. I can't help wondering what colour they actually are though.

It's Shrove Tuesday today and we had pancakes! I love pancake day because hubby always makes them. In fact he even came home from work early today just so there was plenty of time for us to all eat together before bed time. He's head pancake maker in our house. I can't remember the last time I made pancakes myself.

I think this lovely photo represents today rather well. You wouldn't think regular hen's eggs could be particularly beautiful but these are. And I can't help but love the light spring colours in this picture. A lovely image to look at when it's just too damn cold outside.

'rainbow umbrella' by stOOpidgErL

All it did today was rain, rain and rain so we decided to just stay in and do nothing. We hardly ever have days like that so it was actually rather nice. We really didn't do much at all. We watched telly, made chocolate lollipops and tidied a cupboard. The boys (ie my husband and son) also watched the football and rugby while the girls (my daughter and I) went upstairs to play Barbies! So as you can tell it was a very laid back day.

Oh and my daughter also managed to complete outshine me in Polaroid photography. She really wanted to take a picture with my Polaroid 300 camera but I was reluctant to let her as I only had two shots left on the film. I did give in pretty quickly though and she took a photo of me that was bloody awesome. It was perfectly composed and everything. Oh well, perhaps I should let her get her hands on the Polaroid cameras more often.

Here is a Polaroid photo that just blew me away today. Check out those fantastic colours. I love colours like this but never expect to see them on an instant photo. This is definitely one for the photographer to be very proud of.

'My new spotty bag' by Me

My new spotty bag by PhotoPuddle

I thought spring was on it's way but it's not. It snowed here this morning for goodness sake. At least it didn't settle. I was hoping for spring because as well as being a bit warmer I love the sunshine and in my house we seem to be in the perfect position for some beautiful sunlight streaming in through the windows at various times in the day. I took this picture around midday. My son was having a very rare middle of the day nap so I knew I had very limited time. Did I do housework or get the camera out? Of course the camera, or should I say cameras because I took the Polaroid out for a spin too, won!

I love this picture of the lovely bag my husband bought me for our anniversary last week. I love the bag itself, after all what's it to love about a yellow polkadot satchel? And I just adore light. I just want to take pictures of everything when sunshine like this comes in through my bedroom window. Often I'm disappointed that I've not been able to capture it exactly as I see it through my eyes but I am really pleased with this one as the light is perfect.

Hope you're having a lovely weekend!

'Nostalgia: autumn reign' by Nevalenx

Nostalgia: autumn reign by Nevalenx
Nostalgia: autumn reign, a photo by Nevalenx on Flickr.

A good few years ago now I used to work in London. I used to spend about four hours a day commuting to and from work and it did me in eventually but I must admit I loved that I got to work there. I was always a bit disappointed I never lived in London but working and doing a lot of socialising there was just as good an experience.

I love this photo because it's gorgeous. Check out the lovely autumn colours and that beautiful sky. I also think it's great because it was taken in the Docklands area of London where I used to work. I wish I'd been the type of person then who didn't go anywhere without a camera. I could have spent many a lunch break wandering around taking photos.

For one reason or another - some good reasons, some terribly sad - I've not felt like blogging much in the past week. I don't have much to say today really but I wanted to post a photo simply because I love pretty pictures and that's what the blog is all about! Sadly this isn't my photograph but I do own the book that is featured in it. It's a lovely book that is full of lovely pictures - I highly recommend it.

'Bunty' by Me

Bunty by PhotoPuddle
Bunty, a photo by PhotoPuddle on Flickr.

I hope your week has started well. How was your weekend? Mine was good. It mainly involved nostalgia and feeling a little old. This weekend my husband and I celebrated 16 years of being together. While it does feel like we've been together forever the fact that it's been 16 years does kind of take me by surprise. We also did a bit if rummaging around in the loft this weekend. I dug out my wedding dress and tried it on. There was much relief all round when I was still able to do it up! And my daughter had lots of fun trying on my veil and tiara.

That wasn't all I got to feel nostalgic about. I found a load of old magazines and comics that I'd saved. My favourite comics as a child were Twinkle and Bunty before moving on to the really grown up Jackie magazine which of course led to Just Seventeen! After all, who didn't read Just Seventeen when they were a teenager?

I don't know why I kept so many issues of Bunty. Perhaps I knew they'd make a great subject for a photo one day!
