'Globe' by Me

Globe, originally uploaded by PhotoPuddle.

I must admit I have a bit of thing about maps and globes. I could spend ages just pouring over them, especially looking for really random and remote places. I realised that I do always need a globe in my life. Currently it is an inflatable beach ball globe which my husband bought me just because I've always wanted one since watching Michael Palin go around the world in 80 days back in the 1989. This does however now live with my daughter's toys. There have been other globes too including an illuminated one I got for Christmas as a joint present with my sister. We were disappointed at the time though as you can imagine! I also once had a little globe pencil sharpener which to be honest had hardly any countries on it because it was so small. And finally the globe pictured above. This was a sort of vintage style one which I liked because it... well... looked kind of vintage. Unfortunately it met a sticky end when my daughter decided she wanted to play with it when she was a baby. She dropped and broke it. Glad I had already taken this macro shot of it when I was having a 'take photos of random things in my house' day!

I'll be quiet now. Thank you for reading my random nostalgic waffle and looking at my random photo!

  2. Yay, glad to see a shot of a map of Europe including Cyprus, on the news and weather they usually cut it off at Greece and include us in the Middle East!

  3. We used to have a huge map of the world on the wall in the spare bedroom where we put pins on all the places we visited. I have no idea where it went but I have wonderful memories of the places we visited. :)

Thanks for visiting me and taking the time to comment. :)

  4. Nice pic! I too am fascinated by globes and maps...ye my geography is pretty terrible! At my dad’s house, they used to have a map of the world shower curtain! Sadly they’ve now swapped it for a ‘periodic table of elements’ one. Boring!

  5. Kerry - the same goes for me too! Love maps but terrible at actually remembering where any countries are! Silly really.
