'Timmy's is 50..." by Lú_

Timmy's is 50! Too bad their free doughnut day is tomorrow, not Day of the Donut …

So did you make any New Year's resolutions? Unlike the past couple of years I haven't really. I am trying to eat more healthily though but that was something I planned on doing anyway, I just knew it wasn't going to happen over the Christmas period. This got me thinking. I think many new year's resolutions are actually just post Christmas resolutions. For example healthy eating because you have pigged out all through December, doing more exercise as you've just been sitting on the sofa hibernating from the cold weather, being better with money because you've been spending too much on presents and giving up alcohol because you fear for your liver after all those Christmas parties. I wonder if New Year was at a different time of year it would make any difference to what people plan on achieving.

To accompany this post I wanted a photo of something scrummy but naughty. I think this hits the spot. Just look at the shine on that doughnut! Plus it's from Canadian coffee and doughnut shop Tim Hortons which brings back lots of happy memories of my time there.

A belated Happy New Year to you all x x x

So how has 2013 been for you so far? My year has started well - had a lie-in, got the Christmas tree and decorations put back in the loft and had a yummy meal at Wagamamas. Hopefully the rest of the year will be just as good! I am missing 2012 a little bit though. It felt like even though there were a lot of ups and downs it was an amazing year. However, I couldn't put my finger on why. I know it was the year my son was born but it felt like more than that. Then I read a post by Simone at Honey and Fizz and it all made sense. This was the year that my family became complete. We love our daughter so much and if we only had her we would still be very happy, however we knew we wanted two children so when our son came along everything just fell into place. I look forward to all the fun things we'll get up to in 2013 as a family of four.

Oh and today was also very dry and sunny which after all the rain we've been having has got to be a good thing. Therefore the blue skies in this lovely photo seem to be the best photo to start the year with.

Happy new year!

Here is a wonderful New Year's Eve photo to post today. I think this would have worked well in colour but I think the black and white is beautiful. I hope you all have a fabulous time seeing in the new year tonight and I wish you all the very best for a truly spectacular 2013. Here's hoping all your wishes come true because I know you deserve it.

Happy new year everyone!

So have you made any new year's resolutions? I've been thinking about them and haven't really made any as such. I'm not really good at resolutions at new year. I often make better resolutions with myself on my birthday as it kind of feels more significant. Or quite often I'll just resolve to do something and then start doing (or not doing) it there and then. I guess that in 2012 I want to just be the best mum I can to my little girl and to my new baby. It's going to be such a change having two children and I really want to get it right.

On a personal level I guess the one thing I want to work on is my photography. I know it won't be long before I have a million and one other things to be thinking about but I really don't want photography or my blog to fall by the way side as it's turned out to be something that's rather important to me. I'm sure I'll be snapping away at our new arrival though so expect me to post lots of cute photos of baby feet and such things!

Here's one from the archives. It's a cute picture I took of my daughter at Bodium Castle in Sussex when she was just 11 months old. She's never been one to sit still as soon as she was able to get moving she was off.....

'Happy New Year MMXI' by ~ Maria ~

Happy New Year MMXI, originally uploaded by ~ Maria ~.

Happy new year to you all. I hope 2011 brings you much joy and happiness. I shall keep this short and sweet and leave you with this beautiful New Year's Eve photo. I think the colours are just beautiful and a bit unusual for a champagne glass shot. I really like all the blurry candles in the background as they give it a bit of extra sparkle. I'm also thinking just how much I fancy a glass of bubbly myself right now.
