'Mother's Day tulips' by Me

Mother's Day tulips
Photo credit: PhotoPuddle on Flickr

A Happy Belated Mother's Day to all you mothers in the UK and in any other place in the world that celebrated Mothering Sunday yesterday. I hope you had a lovely day. I had a really wonderful time and felt very spoiled. My five year old daughter is so sweet. She chose her present for me all by herself. Apparently she had her heart set on getting me a vase to put flowers in. She dragged her daddy round lots of shops on Saturday and fell in love with a glass butterfly vase which she really wanted to get for me. I tried photographing it today but was really not happy with the shots I got so here is a close up of the beautiful tulips that are currently sitting in it.

'monkeys on the bed.' by sarah_wood

I always wanted a girl. When I was pregnant the first time around I told everyone I didn't mind what I had but I knew deep down that I wanted a girl. I know I would have loved a boy just as much but I couldn't imagine my baby not being a girl. We didn't find out the sex so when I was handed my beautiful baby girl in the delivery room I was so very happy and automatically fell head-over-heels in love. Having a daughter has been everything I ever hoped for. She's amazing. A brilliant little best friend.

When I got pregnant the second time we decided to find out the sex. Hand on heart I didn't mind what I had this time around and was thrilled to be expecting a boy. I did have a few wobbles about it though. I only knew how to be a mum to a girl. How would I cope with a boy? Are they really different? Would I love him the same? Well that little boy is now four and a half months old and I can't imagine what life was like without a son. Why was I worrying? I definitely have two little best friends now!

When I was looking for a photo to go with this post I stumbled across this really fun one. It's such a beautiful carefree image. You really get a lot of energy from it. And I bet the mother and son had a brilliant time jumping on the bed.

'like mother, like daughter' by manyfires

I love my little girl so much and the past few years as a stay-at-home mum have been the best of my life. I'm happy to say she's really excited about becoming a big sister. I know I'll love this new baby just as much but I do worry how it'll change the relationship I have with my daughter. I hope she'll still feel as close to me and won't resent the fact that I have to look after a baby as well.

I think this mother and daughter photo is great. I want to take or have taken some pictures like this of us. I think all the matching colours are rather cute. I'm now off to look for more gorgeous mum and child shots now as I'm feeling all soppy.

'I am a mother...' by {life through the lens}

I am a mother..., originally uploaded by {life through the lens}.

The power of the blog is amazing. I wrote a post yesterday about how blissful it would be going to the beach with my daughter and after I posted I agreed with myself. It would be lovely to go to the seaside with my little girl so we went to Brighton for the day today and had a fabulous time!

I totally love being a mother and every day my little girl becomes more and more my little best friend. Only eighteen months old but she can be so kind and caring, and she has a brilliant sense of humour. She also shares my love of shoes! (Of course I am writing this post through rose-tinted glasses and completely ignoring any of the training she's currently undergoing for the terrible twos!)

Anyway, I thought this photo would be perfect to go with this post tonight. It's so simple but I think very powerful. Mother is in capital letters as it's so important and the flower lies next to it showing the beauty of motherhood. More excellent work from very a talented photographer.
