'monkeys on the bed.' by sarah_wood

I always wanted a girl. When I was pregnant the first time around I told everyone I didn't mind what I had but I knew deep down that I wanted a girl. I know I would have loved a boy just as much but I couldn't imagine my baby not being a girl. We didn't find out the sex so when I was handed my beautiful baby girl in the delivery room I was so very happy and automatically fell head-over-heels in love. Having a daughter has been everything I ever hoped for. She's amazing. A brilliant little best friend.

When I got pregnant the second time we decided to find out the sex. Hand on heart I didn't mind what I had this time around and was thrilled to be expecting a boy. I did have a few wobbles about it though. I only knew how to be a mum to a girl. How would I cope with a boy? Are they really different? Would I love him the same? Well that little boy is now four and a half months old and I can't imagine what life was like without a son. Why was I worrying? I definitely have two little best friends now!

When I was looking for a photo to go with this post I stumbled across this really fun one. It's such a beautiful carefree image. You really get a lot of energy from it. And I bet the mother and son had a brilliant time jumping on the bed.

'bedroom' by I put deadly nightshade in your cup of tea.

It was a very exciting day in our house today as we swapped our daughter's toddler bed for a proper single bed. Of course that meant nothing else fitted where it used to so lots of reshuffling has been done but it now looks terrific. Actually it looks rather grown up. My little girl is definitely not my baby any more. Not even a toddler in fact. Sigh.... I wonder if she'll let me hang out in there too.

I thought this photo was rather appropriate to accompany this post. It's so girly and dreamy. I'd love a bedroom like that. That bed looks so cozy. I love the fairy lights and how well they have been captured in this picture. But most of all I love photos and other pictures on the wall in the background. I feel inspired - I'd love to do this somewhere in my home.

'messy morning bed' by Little Lentil Lil

messy morning bed, originally uploaded by Little Lentil Lil.

You know what would be lovely? A day just snuggled up in bed with a stack of DVDs to watch, some magazines to flick through, a good book to get lost in and a big pile of delicious treats to nibble on! But of course that's never going to happen with a two year old around! And in reality I'd probably end up getting bored by midday. I'd probably decide to get up and do something useful. But of course it's a lovely thing to dream about.

I love this picture because it does make me want to stay in bed and do nothing useful. I think the light coming in through the window is just beautiful. I love how you can see the snow outside too. Makes you just want to dive back under the duvet where you can look at the pretty snow out the window but you don't have to actually get cold!

'Close your Eyes and Sleep' by Ketosea

Close your Eyes and Sleep, originally uploaded by Ketosea.

I love my bed. I'm rather a night owl though so it takes me a long time to get there of an evening but once I'm there and all snuggled up it really is so cozy. Oh and it's rather nice having a lovely hubby to snuggle up with too. But then I saw this photo and thought that this bed looked rather nice too. I love how everything else is almost in darkness but the sunset is still glowing like a fire in the distance. Well you wouldn't say no to that view would you? Athough saying that there's not enough cozy duvet for me and I need far more pillows that this!

'All tucked up warm and cosy in bed' by ZedBee | Zoë Power

Today has been a very soggy day. It's been a fun day in general but I could have done with not coming home looking like a drowned rat. I guess that's autumn for you. Rain, rain and more rain that makes you so look forward to getting home and putting warm, dry clothes on and snuggling up with a large mug of hot chocolate in front of the telly.

I was hoping to post a picture of roaring fires, snuggly blankets and hot drinks etc but then I spotted this one and thought yes, now that IS cosy!! I love these colours and I love the way the scarves match the bed but most of all I just love it because it's cute, cute, cute! Right, I'm off for a cuddle and a hot chocolate. Hope you all have a fabulous and non-soggy weekend.

I am a proud mummy today as it's my little girl's first night in her big bed! She was very excited about it and even helped us put it up today. I think she felt like a big girl. We had a bed time story in bed then she happily snuggled under the covers like an angel. Of course the night is young and it could be a different story in the morning, especially if she comes leaping out of bed at some ungodly hour but for now I'm going to enjoy it.

This photo is so very cute. I bet you said "Awww" to yourself when you saw it! It's almost as cute as my girl looks cuddled up in bed. Almost..... x

Hooray I'm back online. I bet you hadn't realised I'd gone anywhere but our phone line went down yesteday so we were without internet all day! Not too much of a disaster as I was able to go online on my mobile phone but when that happens it always makes you realise how much we take for granted these days.

I remember a simpler time when there was no internet. When I was at school I managed to do perfectly well using the books in the library to research my homework. How easy it would be now to just google it. Even when I was at university the internet wasn't as big as it is today. I had an email address but I didn't use it much. Contact with my friends back home was usually made through phone calls and handwritten letters. I can't say I'd ever want to return to a life like that though! I am rather too dependant on my laptop these days and so much I do with my life now revolves around getting online.

I thought this beautiful photo would go with my ramblings on the internet perfectly. We all do this sometimes don't we? Curl up in bed with our laptop to write, surf, or do whatever it is we do on our computer. I just love the idea of someone from another point in time doing exactly the same thing with a typewriter.

'I like lots of pillows when I sleep...' by nbklx17 (Sandy)

This bed just looks so comfy. I bet whoever just got up had a good night's sleep. I love the title of this photo too. Like the photographer I too sleep with too many pillows. I know it's probably bad for my neck but I love a big pile of pillows and a really thick snuggly duvet. I had the best pillow when I was pregnant. It was really long which meant I could wrap my arms and legs round it and rest my bump on it. It was the only way I could get vaguely comfortable. I think my husband was jealous though and wanted one too!

But back to the photo. I love how the photographer has captured the light through the window as you get the feeling of a beautiful morning. I think the whole image looks really relaxed and natural. I bet when they'd finished taking the photo they jumped back in bed for an extra half an hour!
