'Missing the Olympics' by Me

Missing the Olympics by PhotoPuddle
Missing the Olympics, a photo by PhotoPuddle on Flickr.
This is just a fun little photo I took today as I am actually still missing the Olympics and Paralympics. I can't believe how much of an impact it had on me and how much it affected the whole country even. I saw a clip of a race today and still got all excited about it even though I know it was actually a couple of weeks ago and I knew who won it! These little mascots were reduced to £2 at the local toy shop so I just had to buy them. They will make me smile every time I see them!

'Cirque du Ciel' by Michelle in Ireland

Cirque du Ciel by Michelle in Ireland
Cirque du Ciel, a photo by Michelle in Ireland on Flickr.
We've spent rather a lot of this weekend in a tent. You may think that means we've been camping but that's not the case. While I was out for a couple of hours on Saturday my husband constructed a rather elaborate tent out of sheets and dining chairs. It filled up most of living room and our living room isn't particularly small. My daughter loved it, my baby boy wasn't quite as impressed but it turned us grown ups into such big kids. There's something cool about sitting in a tent. I swear if I hadn't had to be upstairs and close to my son who's still sleeping in our room I would have slept in it. Sadly though the tent is no more. We decided that we probably did need our living room back. Oh well, perhaps we'll do it again next weekend!

I am showing you this photo tonight as it's tent related and it's rather fabulous simply because of the great shapes and bold colours. I love that the whole image is basically just made up of red, white and blue. It's so striking.

I hope you all had a fun weekend.

'Blanche et pure' by mmarsupilami

Blanche et pure, a photo by mmarsupilami on Flickr.

My goodness it was cold here today. It even had a go at snowing although didn't quite manage it. Apparently we may get proper snow by the weekend though. Better fish out my snow boots then. Although that might be a good idea anyway as it turns out Converse shoes (which I've been living in recently) aren't a particularly warm choice of footwear. Thinking about it I reckon so far we've got away with quite a mild winter so I am sure we're long overdue some snow and ice.

Here is a snowy photo that simply took my breath away. I love the pureness and simplicity. There's not much to it but it still manages to make such a great impact. I would describe this as simply stunning.

Stay warm folks!

'The summer wind came blowing in...' by michaelab311

Well, what a simply perfect weekend. The weather has remained beautiful so we did have that trip to the beach and also the first barbecue of the year. My husband and I even managed to squeeze in a dinner date. At a lovely restaurant. Just us two. How totally fantastic!

This photo is just so summery and it whisks you away to a place far far away. The bright white material against the blue sky just looks so pure. I think I can actually feel that summer breeze on me right now and I must say it is rather relaxing.

'As Time Goes By' by Ronaldo F Cabuhat

As Time Goes By, originally uploaded by Ronaldo F Cabuhat.

I don't think I've featured any wedding photography on my blog yet but I saw this and thought it was fantastic. The dress is quite obviously gorgeous even though you can't see all of it here. I love how the photographer has captured all the lovely details. The hand holding in the corner is perfectly placed too. My favourite bit has to be the flowers though. What a gorgeous colour against the bright white and they really are so simple and elegant. I'd love to have a look at the rest of this wedding album, wouldn't you?

'White and red' by Me

White and red, originally uploaded by PhotoPuddle.

My husband was such a sweetheart this week surprising me with a lovely bunch of flowers. It was a beautiful selection of white blooms. The scent is gorgeous too and really hits you as soon as you enter the room. I'm going to miss them when they are gone. As expected I took some photos. I was really pleased with the ones I took and four of them made it onto Flickr. I've had great trouble deciding which one to share with you here tonight though so I've gone for the one which is probably most interesting.

I was trying to decide how to photograph the bouquet and thought I'd try putting one of them in one of my red wine glasses. I took two shots and decided it wasn't going to work. However, when I downloaded them I thought I actually rather liked this one. What do you think? I like the texture of the flower next to the smooth glass and I like the contrast of the pure white and the bright red.

'@Home' by *Twinkel*

@Home, originally uploaded by *Twinkel*.

Hope you all had a fantastic weekend. I had a busy one which included nights out, late nights, swimming, shopping and a funfair. As the last few days have been so busy I thought it would be nice to keep it chilled out with this lovely photo. It was the simplicity of this that caught my eye along with the fact that it just looks so bright and fresh. And of course the flip flops are pretty and I rather like the flooring as well!

'Bright as a Daisy!' by Christine Eaves

Bright as a Daisy!, originally uploaded by Christine Eaves.

Not many words from me tonight. Just going to show you this beautiful daisy photo. It's gorgeous because of its simplicity and the focus is fantastic. But what I really love are the bright colours. Makes it such a sunny and happy photo. I hope it makes you smile a little.

'Sweeties' by Me

Sweeties, originally uploaded by PhotoPuddle.

Anyone for a strawberry sweetie? I took this today in a totally unplanned photo shoot! Basically, I had a little box of sweets and was tipping one out into my hand to eat. However, I obviously tipped too far as all the sweets came out. But looking down at them in my hand I really liked how they looked and had to take a photo. So I grabbed my camera, swiped some coloured paper from my daughter's box of craft stuff and got clicking!

Oh and in case you were wondering these sweets are from M&S and are totally delicious!

'twinkle lil flowers' by manitarz

twinkle lil flowers , originally uploaded by manitarz.

I think this is such a fresh and lovely photo. I love the clean white with just a hint of pink and green. And framed this image would look fantastic on a bright white wall. I also totally adore the subject of the photo. I like flowers arranged in creative ways. This is just delightful and makes me want to go recreate this on my window sill.

'104/365 [2010]' by Qasim Mirza

104/365 [2010], originally uploaded by Qasim Mirza.

I am posting this picture as a reminder to myself to paint my toe nails! Summer appears to be here so it's time for sandals and pretty feet! In my younger days I used to paint my finger nails all the time but the effort involved in that is far too much now! I always seem to chip my nail polish pretty much as soon as it's dried but no one notices what's going on with your toes so you can get away with imperfect polish for ages! Or maybe that's just me!

Of course as well as a reminder this is a great photo as well. I love the bright pink and seem to be featuring a lot of the colour at the moment. And a colour like this on a bright white background is always so striking. I just hope it was taken on something disposable and no nice piece of furniture or anything was painted in order to get the perfect shot!

'Sweet Peach' by Andrea McClain

Sweet Peach, originally uploaded by Andrea McClain.

I have just realised that I've not bought any flowers yet this week. And I was doing so well making sure I always had fresh flowers in the house. It's also a bit silly of me because it's been so bright and sunny I could have taken some lovely flowery photos. I shall make sure I go buy some later.

In the meantime here is a lovely flower photo not taken by me. This looks like it was shot on a bright and sunny day like today. I really love this fantastic combination of colours. They look so striking against the white interior.

Right, I am inspired and will definitely buy flowers later.

'89/365...' by {cindy}

89/365..., originally uploaded by {cindy}.

In a previous blog post, which you can read here if you fancy, I said I really wanted to take a fantastic picture of a peacock this summer. Well this weekend I was lucky enough to see two. One on Saturday and one on Sunday. I had the camera poised and ready but would either of them open up their feathers for me. Like hell they would!! Therefore I am going to show you this awesome shot of a white peacock. Isn't it just such a stunning bird? And this photo makes it look so dreamy and angelic. I shall, however, carry on with my quest for my own great peacock photo.

'Spring blossoms' by Me

Spring blossoms, originally uploaded by PhotoPuddle.

It's been another beautiful weekend. At times I could have sworn it was the middle of August not the middle of April. We had a busy weekend. We went to the farm, a National Trust garden, did a little bit of shopping and a tiny drop of wine may have been consumed on Saturday night with some girl friends!

But of course all this sunshine meant the camera was out for most of the weekend. Got some lovely spring flower photos including the one above. Also got a few nice daffodil shots but I was amazed at how quickly they seem to be fading away.

Hope you all had a lovely weekend too and those of you with the photography bug got some fabulous photos.

'winter swans 2' by fozzie75

winter swans 2, originally uploaded by fozzie75.

If I was to name this photo it would be 'purity'. What amazing pure white snow and beautiful white swans. I love the fact that a photo can be all white but still be so interesting. The swans definitely look like they are posing! I say all white but obviously there are the two orange beaks that stand out in the snow. Fantastic work. I wish I had taken it!
