'Orange' by Me

Orange by PhotoPuddle
Orange, a photo by PhotoPuddle on Flickr.
Hooray! It's the weekend and it looks like it's going to be a hot and summery one. I imagine it will be the last weekend like this in a while so I really want to make the most of it. We have absoutely no plans yet so let's just see where the weekend takes us! I would lay money on ice cream being involved somewhere along the way!

I took this photograph this morning. My husband bought me some lovely colourful flowers yesterday that appeared to have "Photograph Me" written all over them. I seem to take a lot of flower pictures so I like the fact that I've taken this from an angle I've never tried before. My favourite bit is the colour though. It just looks so bright and vibrant because of the wonderful sunshine we had today.

Happy weekend everyone!

This photograph is a perfect example of minimalism. At first you might look at it and think there's not much to it (and you'd be right) but I bet it took a lot of thought to get the angle right. And it's not an obvious colour combination but the orange and turquoise just work so well together. I'm actually wondering what this is a small corner of. It looks to me like a boat but I'm guessing it must be a building. Any suggestions?

'Orange Daisy' by Picture Zealot

For any of you feeling sleepy after a busy weekend here's a fantastic burst of colour to wake you up again. This photo really does pack a punch don't you think? I think macro pictures of flowers like this are great anyway but the colours in this one are just awesome. The orange is fantastic but what I really love is that thin ring of purple just before you get to middle. Wonderful picture I know I'll be returning to again and again.

'Little Pumpkin With Fallen Orange Autumn Leaves' by D Sharon Pruitt

Well here ends our first half term at pre-school and you know what it’s been a wonderful week. My daughter and I have been really busy going out and about and also spending some quality time with each other. We also got to spend time with friends we don’t see as often as we used to simply because all our children are at different pre-schools at different times so our weekly timetables are just so different.

The highlight of the week must have been a trip to the local fire station. It was a really interesting visit and it’s always fun climbing in a fire engine and spraying water with huge hoses!

I picked this photo for you tonight as it’s just the most autumny, orangy, halloweeny photo I could find. What a fantastic burst of colour. I love those little pumpkins as they’re just really cute.

Hope whether you’ve been on half term or not you’ve had a great week and have an even more fantastic weekend.

'Four windows' by sollyth

Four windows, a photo by sollyth on Flickr.

This is one of those photos that I find hard to explain what exactly it is I like about it. I'm just some how drawn to it. I think the combination of the colours and the bright sunlight are great. I also want to know more about this building. What does the rest of it look like? What's the scenery around it like? I guess mostly though I just like being nosy. I am intrigued about what's in the apartments and who lives there. For example, what are those stickers on the windows? Is it a child's room? And what's that I can see in the window below? Is it a rolled up rug. So many unanswered questions. And I guess I have just explained what I like about this photo after all!

'Orange Gerbera' by Rixoon

Orange Gerbera by Rixoon
Orange Gerbera, a photo by Rixoon on Flickr.

When I saw this photo I did just think "Wow"! It's really so striking. The colours are fantastic. In general I'm not a huge fan of orange but I love seeing it used effectively with other bright colours. The best bit about this is the water droplets though as they really add something to the picture. I think taking photos of flowers in the rain is a great thing to do. Hopefully, I won't be able to do it again any time soon though. The rain has stopped here and the summer appears to have arrived. Hooray!

It's Friday again. Hope you've all got fantastic weekends planned. And if you don't have any plans then that's even better because you can just be spontaneous and see where the wind blows you.

I have chosen this image to start the weekend as these contrasting colours are just so striking. It's definitely a work of art. The photo is also so crisp and clear which I love.

Happy weekend everyone!

'Nikon Coolpix 5700' by JDHuang

Nikon Coolpix 5700, originally uploaded by JDHuang.

I've deliberately not posted anything here for a couple of days but it feels like it's been ages. It's been a nice break away but I am back and ready to blog!

I hope you've all had a lovely weekend and have some nice things planned for the week ahead - even if it's just a few little things to make you smile each day. This amazing photo makes me smile. It's definitely a picture full of happiness. Looks like the end of a lovely day for everyone in it. Love the shadows and all that bright orange light. Execellent work!

':11/365: tangerine' by alexandra:b

:11/365: tangerine, originally uploaded by alexandra:b.

I love this picture because that tangerine just looks so perfect and so juicy! The colour is so vivid too. It makes me what to go grab something orangey to eat right now.

It also reminds me off the yummiest bag of satsumas I bought from M&S this week they were as juicy and and delicious as these ones look but I doubt they'd have made such a good photo. My two year old is so fussy somtimes. When she was a baby I called all satsuma/clementine/tangerine/mandarin type fruit 'oranges' because I figured it would be easier to learn. Fair enough I thought but now when I offer her a satsuma she's refuses. She's only interested if I offer it to her as an orange! Toddlers are funny little things aren't they?

Oh and happy weekend everyone. I hope you all have a fantastic time doing whatever it is you are doing this weekend.

'The Great Pumpkin' by htekmo

The Great Pumpkin, originally uploaded by htekmo.

I'm afraid I've rather been neglecting my blog this week. As you know it was my daughter's birthday and also my husband has had the week off work so we've had a hugely busy week getting up to all sorts of fun things. Anyway, it should all be back to the usual routine tomorrow so normal blog service will resume!

Tonight's photo was obviously chosen because it's Halloween. I love how much detail is in this photo. It's a fantastic close up shot. And I love the colour too. Such a striking orange but the photo still seems quite dark and moody.

Happy Halloween everyone. Hope you've all been having a lovely spooky time!

'Something for the Weekend!' by A guy called John

Well I just had to feature this on a Friday at some point. I love the dedication that went into fishing out the appropriate letters and arranging them so neatly on the plate. It's also made me quite fancy tinned spaghetti on toast. Hope you have a fantastic weekend everyone!

There is no story behind my photo choice tonight, I just think it's a beautiful photo. It's one of those shots where less is more. I love how a great photographer can make an every day item look so pretty. I really like the bowl in this but most of all I love the colouring of the photo. So subtle and interesting.

'Winter popsicle' by BrennanSchnell

I've just seen a fantastic tulip photo on flickr which I really want to share with you but I think I'll leave it for a bit just in case you think I am getting a bit obsessed with with this particular type of flower!

I've therefore picked a completely different photo for you to have a look at. I love this because it makes me thirsty. It looks so juicy. It's been a cold rainy day today but I really, really want an ice lolly! I have some ice cream in the freezer but I'm not sure that'll be the same. I therefore conclude that there is definitely nothing wrong with a winter popsicle.

'winter swans 2' by fozzie75

winter swans 2, originally uploaded by fozzie75.

If I was to name this photo it would be 'purity'. What amazing pure white snow and beautiful white swans. I love the fact that a photo can be all white but still be so interesting. The swans definitely look like they are posing! I say all white but obviously there are the two orange beaks that stand out in the snow. Fantastic work. I wish I had taken it!
