'Natural Firework' by Habub3

Natural Firework by Habub3
Natural Firework, a photo by Habub3 on Flickr.
It's Firework Night tonight but I've not actually been hearing many fireworks outside. I think most people got their fill of fireworks at the weekend. Never mind, here is a fantastic photo of a plant that looks rather like a firework. Nature is such a wonderful thing isn't it? And this photographer has captured this little piece of nature so well. Beautiful shapes and stunning sunlight.

Isn't it funny how time really does go so much quicker as you get older. I remember when I was at school the summer holidays seemed to last for months but this school holiday seems to have flown by in the blink of an eye. Talking of time flying by my baby boy is now four months old. Definitely not a newborn any more. And my daughter is nearly four. Where did the toddler years go? And don't get me started on turning 35 this year. How did THAT happen? Right, I'm off to watch a programme about clubbing over the years. I just know that's going to make me feel old. My best clubbing years were in the 90s.

Anyway, don't rush off without stopping to have a look at this great photo. I like it became it's colourful, summery and interesting.

Happy weekend everyone!

'Marbles and sunlight' by Me

Marbles and sunlight by <span class=
Marbles and sunlight, a photo by PhotoPuddle on Flickr.

Most of this morning was spent making a marble run out of old wrapping paper tubes. I would like to say that my daughter and I did it together but it turned out to be harder to make than I thought and she got a bit bored to be honest. I persevered though and I think it looked quite cool in the end. And it worked! Later this week I think we'll decorate it and make it all pretty. She'll definitely be up for that!

Whilst playing with the marbles I couldn't help but take a few photos of them as the sunlight was beautiful again today. I wanted the pictures I took to be more about the light than the marbles themselves. I think I have achieved that. The marbles are pretty as well though.

'Crayons' by Me

I hope you all had a lovely weekend. Ours was a rather relaxing one. It started with taking our three year old to the cinema for the very first time. We were a bit nervous she might get freaked out my the dark and noise and everything but she loved it! Can't wait to go again! Trying not to think about how expensive it was for the three of us though. When did trips to the cinema get so pricey?

Also this weekend we had lunch with friends, made gingerbread men, bought shoes and I got to have a fabulous and much needed long lie-in. A great start to 2012.

Here is another photo of mine from the archives as this weekend I also got to do some more clearing out of photos from my computer. My favourite part of this is the light. I don't really remember taking this photo but by the looks of it it was a gorgeous sunny day.

'Fells Point, Baltimore - shiny door detail' by karma (Karen)

Happy Monday everyone! I was meant to post this weekend but we were so busy with various friends and family visiting I just didn't get the chance. Not to mention I didn't have the energy. Entertaining is a tiring business, especially when you are 19 weeks pregnant.

This is just one of those photos where I can't really say why I like it - I just do. I love it when people can see beauty in the every day things around them. And this also demonstrates how you don't even have to see the sky or the surrounding area to know that it was a bright sunny day when this was taken. Well it looks like it was anyway!

Hope your week has started well. If not then don't worry, only four days until the weekend!

'A piece of my world' by Kursiv

A piece of my world by Kursiv
A piece of my world, a photo by Kursiv on Flickr.

This time last year it snowed. And it wasn't just a spinkling of snow it was the proper thick stuff. A little part of me hoped it would snow early again this year - I think because my daughter is so excited at the prospect - but in reality I'd rather it stayed away until after Christmas. December is always such a busy time and I don't want to spend it worrying about whether things are going to have to be cancelled due to the weather. I wouldn't mind a little snow in January though. After all we've finally forked out on proper snow boots for each of us and of course I really need to get some pretty snowy photos.

Here is an extremely pretty snowy photograph. In fact 'pretty' is the wrong word really because I think it's truly stunning. It's the beautiful light that does it for me. It makes me want to squeal a little in delight. And look at the perfect freshly fallen snow. I wonder how long it stayed like that for.

'me and my shadow' by Rococo57

me and my shadow, a photo by Rococo57 on Flickr.

I've not been about in the blogging world this week simply because life has got in the way - how rude of it!! Actually it's been pretty great as we've had another little break away. Although it was back to earth with a bump when my little one got chicken pox as soon as we got home.

Anyway I shall now say Happy Weekend as it appears to be Friday again. I think so anyway - I have totally lost track of the days of the week.

Now sit back and enjoy this lovely picture. It's unbelievably simple but the light and shadows are just so beautiful, especially the transparent shadow of the bottle. A really well observed photo.

'day threehundred: the step you'll have to take.' by thelastdisco

I am super excited tonight as my awesome, wonderful, amazing and fantastic husband has bought me a polaroid camera. It's an old Polaroid 600 which he managed to spot for sale secondhand really cheaply. In fact the film he's ordered for me actually cost more than the camera. I'm really excited about trying it out but I'm rather nervous too. With so few exposures costing so much money I have to make every shot count. I'll let you know how I get on.

I like this photo as it's got polaroids in it! It's an intgruiging shot. I think it looks like a positive photo but what is this person walking away from or walking towards? The bare feet make it even more fascinating. The light and shadows in this picture are just beautiful. It's especially lovely how the photographer has managed to capture that little sparkle of sunshine on that top polaroid.

Polaroids here I come. Wish me luck!

'Off to School in the Mist 2' by Jahina

Off to School in the Mist 2, originally uploaded by Jahina.

Yesterday I posted a picture of the stunning Northern Lights. As I said I do hope to view these for real one day but in the mean time I can be content knowing that the light right here in England can be just as striking.

This photo was taken in Albany Park in Enfield and hasn't the photographer captured such magical lighting? I love the fact there is a person strolling through the park in the background as well. I hope they were enjoying what looked like a lovely crisp autumn morning as much as I'm enjoying looking at it.

'Branches of Bokeh' by Neil1138

Branches of Bokeh, originally uploaded by Neil1138.

Not much to say tonight other than this photo is truly gorgeous. I love the light, the colours and the focus. It's such a bright and warm photo. Much like the weather was here today. I am keeping my fingers crossed that the weather stays lovely but I guess it has to go back to proper rainy March weather at some point!
